This painting reflects a time travel to the Italian island of Capri for a celebration of marriage during a July 4th weekend with all my friends. Capri was not a tourist destination at the time and the need to speak Italian was urgent! Since my Italian was basic, I went along with the impressive program, lounging around on one of those authentic little yachts, eating so well at the many picturesque restaurants, soaking in the beautiful Italian scenery, the fabulous festivities, the innocence of youth, the golden sunlight on the wedding day, the incredibly well-dressed wedding guests with bold turquoise, silver, and gold jewelry, and the surprising rock formation of the island. The colors of the magenta magnolias, the bright morning light, the colored roofed houses on the hill side and the clear turquoise water surrounding us was all like a hallucinating dreamscape.
