This painting carries a dual meaning. Arrival in the context of "I have arrived," signifying the moment I fully endorsed becoming a painter, and having arrived at that place after many years, and, Arrival, expressed through seasonal colors, meaning a new season has arrived, remembering the autumn.
“Arrival” was inspired by the feeling of arriving, being here, having finally put a stake in the ground, done “it,” made it here, succeeded etc. It is like the beginning of a new season; hence the seasonal colors, pumpkin, purple, magenta, reds, orange and violet. The yellow was inspired by the Starry Night painting of V. van Gogh, who famously painted night visions. I love the idea of painting the night, because of its contradiction in it: what is there to see (in the dark)? As we have seen from his paintings it turns out that magnificent imagery is possible! I put my own abstract expressionistic spin on it so if you squint your eyes, you may see the stars sparkling and moving around across a galactic sky.
